Lupus Autoimmunity

Statement of Educational Need

Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) can be a severe clinical syndrome, with inflammation leading to organ system failure and accelerated mortality. To date, there is no cure for this illness, and no recently approved therapies. Understanding the biology of SLE is critical to acceleration progress toward new therapies, as is the understanding of the mechanisms of action and potential beneficial effects of therapeutics beginning and in clinical trials. This program will further our understanding of the biology of and potential therapies for SLE.
