Program Description

Join world-renown longevity research expert, Dr. Leonard Guarente, from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  This webinar was held on April 29, 2008 and is now available as a self-study course.

In mammals, caloric restriction decreases the incidence or delays the onset of age-associated diseases including cancer, cardiovascular disease, osteoporosis, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Dr. Guarente discusses the mechanisms by which caloric restriction exerts its effects, and reviews our understanding of how sirtuins mediate caloric restriction and offer a potential therapeutic approach to aging.
