AutoimmunityTregs and Th17 Cells In Autoimmunity We welcome you to a panel discussion from "Tregs and Th17 Cells In Autoimmunity."
This panel discussion brings together the world’s top scientists in the field of immune biology. Their conversation takes place in Washington, DC on March 26, 2008 and covers the highlights of the Tregs and Th17 Cells in Autoimmunity symposium that had just concluded. A new era in the field of immune regulation has evolved with an understanding of the relationship between regulatory and inflammatory Th1 / Th17 T cells. This panel of experts discusses factors that determine the differentiation of these populations and the influence regulatory and inflammatory T cells have on immune responses and autoimmune disease. Their conversation covers the current evidence for whether human autoimmune diseases, such as multiple sclerosis and psoriasis, are mediated by Th1 cells or Th17 cells. The panel examines the differences in the generation of pro-inflammatory Th17 cells and protective Treg cells in mice and humans, and explores how these populations can be manipulated for new therapeutic approaches to autoimmune disease.
