Emerging Technologies for the Assessment of Gametes and Embryos: The "Omics"

The most frequent and serious complication of ART is multiple pregnancy, which has significant adverse effects on the newborn, the mother, the family, and society as a whole. It is recognized that liming the number of embryos to transfer during IVF procedures, is the only method available to decrease the incidence of multiple pregnancies. In order to decrease the number of embryos transferred, without affecting pregnancy rates, improved embryo assessment is needed. As we learn more about evolving technologies that will enable us to select the best embryos, there is a need to foster interactions and collaboration that will lead to the translation of this knowledge into IVF practice. This symposium will fill that gap.
