The Challenges of Care and Research in Multiple Sclerosis

  • This year’s theme, The Challenges of Care and Research in Multiple Sclerosis provided attendees with information about the immunology, genetics, epidemiology, and pathophysiology of the disease, basic fundamentals of multiple sclerosis care, advanced concepts both in care and research, discussion about technology in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis, addressing disease progression, and symptomatic and rehabilitative care.

  • 99% of learners reported that they would recommend this program to a colleague.

  • Objectives of the course were to:
    • Describe current research into the etiology and pathogenesis of MS.
    • Identify epidemiologic and genetic landmarks in MS.
    • Cite effective ways of managing MS symptoms.
    • Discuss rehabilitation strategies that are effective throughout the course of the disease.
    • List new pharmacological and non-pharmacological methods of managing MS.
    • Identify treatment options in patients with breakthrough disease.
    • Explain the use of MRI in the diagnosis and management of MS.
