Learning Objectives

The goals and learning objectives of the meeting are:

  • Define the role of B cells in the pathogenesis of MS.
  • Describe the impact of antibodies to CNS antigens on the disease process.
  • Summarize the mechanisms for novel therapies on which clinical trials focused on B cells are based.
  • Respond to challenges in this area by stimulating interactions and establishing collaborations between basic and clinical scientists, as well as R&D scientists in industry.

At the conclusion of this program the participant will have a better appreciation for the role of B cells and antibodies in MS, and as targets for therapy of autoimmune diseases. Understanding of basic mechanisms of autoimmune attack and the loss of tolerance will also be gained.
