Disorders Of Lipid MetabolismStatement Of Educational NeedDue to the continuing epidemic of overweight and obesity, the prevalence of dyslipidemias, hypertension and atherosclerosis is increasing. According to the NCEP ATP III definition, about one fourth of adults in the U.S. is at metabolic risk. These factors are significant precursors to type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular death. There is a need for continued vigilance in this field.
