Frontiers in Reproductive EndocrinologyCourse DescriptionMarch 22-25, 2007 Arlington, Virginia, USA
This course was designed to provide the latest information on the mechanism, diagnosis, and treatment of a broad range of reproductive endocrine disorders. In addition to didactic presentations, diagnostic dilemmas reflecting the breadth of reproductive endocrinology were presented for problem solving by the faculty and participants. Interactive problem-solving exercises at the conclusion of each day using audience response pads (ARPs) covered a broad range of endocrine disorders and infertility. These sessions were designed to filter the evidence appropriate to each patient through an interpreted and individualized approach. In addition to diagnosis and management, emphasis was placed on the scope and limitations of different diagnostic interventions and the use of evidence-based medicine in deciphering infertility problems. All of the faculty members were selected because of their recognized expertise in specific areas of interest. This course was designed as an in-depth review and update for reproductive endocrinologists who wish to sharpen and broaden their skills or for generalists who wish to increase their knowledge of reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Interactive and problem-solving sessions using the ARPs was of particular value to registrants who were preparing for written or oral examinations leading to board certification in reproductive medicine. Registrants from other disciplines (Medical Endocrinology; Pediatric Endocrinology) gained insights into treatment and practice patterns in reproductive endocrinology and genetics. The venue selected for the meeting was particularly conducive to easy interaction with faculty and registrants. |
